Government and pasture related policies


Pasture is an important natural resources na an integral component for the development of livestock farming. And livestock farming plays a vital role in establishing relationship between pasture resources and socio-economic structure of the agriculturally predominant rural areas in Nepal.


The development of pasture resources depends upon the way it is used. Better pasture management means to maintain are many types of grazing lands or village pasture in Nepal, ranging from the alpine pasture of mountain region to the village pasture of the terai region, however, their management and improvement must be related to a complex of factors which are in many ways peculiar t the individual region of country.

These factors are the monsoonal climate, distribution of precipitation, the types and ecology of the natural vegetation, the livestock problem and the competition for land among agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry.
