Causes of natural resources conflict

1.       Depletion of renewable resources

2.       Scarcity of livelihood resources

3.       Overpopulation pressure

4.       Unequal distribution of resources.

5.       Lack of required natural resources management policies

6.       Weak government mechanism and external effects on natural resources management activities.

Local level conflicts are closely related to lack of access to critical resources with changing prices, markets and production in traditional mechanism.

Conflicts are on rising on uses of resources. While many conflicts are not violent and are resolved peacefully. Some are disagreements and tentious and some are violent and erupted.
